In 2019 the time has finally come – the electronic patient dossier, EPR for short, is launched.
After this new type of patient record has been in use in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Baselland and Solothurn since 2018, it will be introduced throughout Switzerland next year.
The EPD is then available beyond the borders of the cantons.
What is the EPD?
The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is a collection of all personal documents related to your health. It can be viewed by the patient himself as well as by doctors who have been given permission by the patient. The documents are well protected and can only be accessed via a secure connection. With an EPD, complete information is possible during medical treatment and thus leads to better treatment quality.
Such a far-reaching change in the healthcare system naturally needs to be well prepared.
There is no better way to explain the system simply but comprehensively than explanatory films.
Videodesign for eHealth Suisse
As the lead agency of eHealth Suisse, we have already been able to create numerous videos on the various functions of the EPD. As the executive body of the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), it is the task of eHealth Suisse to advance the digitization of the healthcare system.
To support eHealth Suisse in this task through a large number of projects that we have already created for different customers in the health and pharmaceutical sectors .
Two target groups
The special thing about the implementation of the explanatory videos on the EPR is that the target group consists of two subgroups: on the one hand patients and on the other hand health professionals, such as e.g. E.g. Doctors, pharmacists and nursing staff.
The information for the respective group is partly different. This is how u. a. Videos with similar content, but adapted and optimized for the respective target group. The films are also divided into two subgroups: “EPD briefly explained” explains the functions of the electronic patient dossier, while “EPD in action” shows the advantages using case studies.
