First place in the Story2023 competition

What will our everyday life look like in the future? Will conventional vehicles really be replaced by flying cars? Or will robots bring us breakfast in bed?

Within the Transmedia competition “Story 2023” we pursued exactly this question. The task was to show our vision of the future in 2023 and to implement it using a transmedial project.
Transmedia… uh what? Don’t you know this expression? No problem, here is a brief explanation: A transmedial storytelling perspective is the art of telling a specific story using different mediums, such as digital platforms.

So much for the specifications of the competition.
Over the summer, the videodesign.com team dealt intensively with the matter and designed the new project Michael2023.com ( www.michael2023.com ) .

We used three media platforms for this: an interactive website, an embedded advertising video and social media. The viewer is directly involved in the story by scrolling, can control the action himself and thus experience the daily routine up close. The expansion through the social media channel goes beyond the scope of a limited website and lets the characters come to life.

The protagonist of our project is Michael, a 29-year-old engineer from San Francisco. Michael is an employee of the company ‘Oculusix’, which manufactures digital contact lenses. Thanks to this innovation, the user sees all the gimmicks directly in his field of vision, like “Google Glasses” compressed into one lens.
However, this is not the only invention that will decorate our lives in the future! Have a look at our project at www.michael2023.com and find out more…

On the 27th. In September 2013 the time had come: the announcement of the ranking was just around the corner. We enthusiastically presented our project to the audience at the X Media Labs conference in Lausanne.

They were enthusiastic about the innovative possibilities of our website and let our vision of the future melt in their mouths.
The culmination of the event was the award ceremony: We were delighted to take first place ! We were able to pop the corks at the aperitif that followed, where great personalities from the international scene, such as Jeff Gomez (Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean, Men in Black,…), were represented and interesting discussions were guaranteed.

First place includes a full trip to San Francisco, Silicon Valley. Here we will take a look behind the scenes at well-known tech startups in order to then design new video animations with fresh ideas.
Due to this business trip, during the period from 25 October to 4 November 2013 not available by phone be, but of course be available via e-mail.
All customer projects will continue to be fully supported – and new inquiries are always welcome!

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to any feedback via the comment function below.
